a new festival experience.
Helen Leitner is Artist Relations Manager for Camac Harps, France. She studied English Language & Literature at the University of Oxford in her native England, followed by harp performance at the Royal College of Music, London.
Between 2007 and 2009, she was Principal Harp with the Landestheater Niederbayern, Germany. In a freelance capacity, she has worked with the Oslo Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Bolshoi Ballet, Munich State Opera, Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt, Apollo Chamber Players, the Opera Group, Ensemble Oktopus, etc. She also played seventy weddings a year, gave concerts on cruise ships, and held an interesting residency at the 50 St James casino. As part of her show band work, she performed “My Heart will Go On” ninety-five times accompanied by bagpipes.
Helen is particularly interested in the interrelated subjects of how music is communicated, and how musicians build and sustain their careers. Between 2005 and 2008 she wrote a popular blog about life as a harpist. Twang Twang Twang won the Morning News’s Award for Online Excellence (2006), and Helen was praised by Terry Teachout, drama critic of the Wall St Journal, as “a musician who can really, really write.”
In 2009 Helen left her job in a German opera house and joined the French team at Camac Harps. Like all her Camac colleagues, she is passionate about sponsorship for musicians that is clean, intelligent and of lasting impact.
